Goals from Georgia Wilson and Jenna Markham sent AFC Bournemouth into the final of the FA Women’s National League Cup.
The Cherries recorded a two nil semi final victory against West Bromwich Albion at Rugby Borough’s Kilsby Lane ground, scoring once in each half to continue a cup run that has already included wins over QPR, Exeter and Swindon Town.
Wilson broke the deadlock after 26 minutes, finding room inside the penalty area before placing a composed strike into the far corner beyond goalkeeper Charlotte Clarke, rewarding Bournemouth’s early control against opponents from the Northern Premier Division.
Bournemouth remained on the front foot after the interval and came close to extending their lead, only for a low cross from Sophie Quirk to be cut out as Wilson moved in, before the tie was settled late on.
Markham wrapped up the win on 81 minutes, reacting sharply after her initial effort was blocked to steer the ball into the top corner at the third attempt, sealing a second consecutive clean sheet.
Head coach Helen Bleazard said it was still “all systems go”, adding that the squad’s focus would remain on four league fixtures before facing Plymouth Argyle in both the league and the final at QPR’s Loftus Road on Saturday 28 March, describing her side as “really dominant defensively” on the day.
