Training designed to prepare young people for employment was showcased during a mayoral visit to Bournemouth and Poole College.
Councillor Mark Howell, Mayor of Poole, visited the college’s Poole Campus on Monday, 2 February, where he met staff and students and learned more about specialist facilities and training opportunities supporting progression into work and higher education across the area.
The tour included curriculum areas that have seen significant investment in recent years, such as the Health and Care Academy, Esports and Podcast Studio, Stop Motion Studio, Green Energy Centre, marine and advanced engineering workshops, art and design studios and University Centre Poole.
Staff demonstrated specialist equipment and learning spaces, while students spoke about their courses, current projects and future career plans, giving an insight into how teaching links closely with local industry and community needs.
The visit also focused on the wider role the college plays in skills development and economic wellbeing, with Councillor Howell saying the facilities and employer-led courses were helping students gain practical skills needed by local industries and supporting prosperity across Poole and the surrounding area.
