A new small scale DAB radio service has gone live in Bournemouth and Boscombe, expanding local digital listening.
The Bournemouth and Boscombe small scale DAB multiplex is now broadcasting, providing community and local interest radio stations with access to digital radio across the two areas for the first time, following the award of a licence by Ofcom during 2024.
The service is run by BH Community DAB, a partnership involving community radio stations Hope FM and Hot Radio, Dorset Coast Radio, and broadcast engineering company Wide FM, bringing together local broadcasters with shared technical resources.
Support for the original application included backing from Bournemouth West MP Jessica Toale, Bournemouth East MP Tom Hayes and Poole MP Neil Duncan Jordan, alongside a number of radio stations from across the south.
Stations carried on the multiplex include Hope FM, Hot Radio, Dorset Coast Radio, East Dorset Community Station, Forest FM, Bournemouth One and Boom Lite.
A similar platform also launched in Poole last summer.
