A new project in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole is aiming to protect children and young people by addressing harmful sexual behaviour early.
Partners, including Safer BCP, Dorset Police, BCP Safeguarding Children’s Partnership and STARS Dorset, have launched the Harmful Sexual Behaviour Framework under the Do It Right campaign.
The framework guides professionals in recognising signs, reporting concerns, and accessing specialist support. More than one hundred and fifty professionals attended a launch event at The Village Hotel in Bournemouth, which included training sessions and talks from Dorset Police, STARS Dorset and other local agencies.
Detective Inspector Stefanie Belton said addressing signs early helps prevent escalation into more serious offending and ensures children receive protection and support. Stephanie Lee from STARS Dorset added the project will make it easier for young people to access guidance on relationships and sex education.
Referrals under the new framework are due to begin from Monday, February sixteenth, with further guidance available on the BCP Safeguarding Children Partnership website.
