Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council is alerting residents to periods of heavy rain today that could cause localised flooding.
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning from early morning until midnight, with 10 to 20mm of rain expected widely and some spots potentially exceeding 30mm.
Council officials warn that spray and flowing water may make driving difficult, and bus and train services could run late. A few homes and businesses may experience flooding, and brief interruptions to power are possible.
Residents are advised to check whether their property is at risk, prepare a flood plan and emergency kit, and monitor road and public transport updates. Authorities also suggest gathering torches, batteries, and a mobile phone power pack to cope with potential power issues. The Met Office notes that yellow warnings indicate a medium likelihood and low impact, and weather conditions may change quickly throughout the day.
