Dorset Police is inviting people in Bournemouth to learn more about joining the Force during a live social media recruitment event next week.
Officers and staff will go live on the Dorset Police Facebook page from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Monday 9 February 2026, giving prospective police officers and special constables the chance to ask questions directly.
Specialist recruitment staff will be available to explain how to apply to become a police constable, detective constable or special constable. Serving officers and volunteers will also take part, offering an insight into day to day policing and volunteering in Dorset.
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Callaghan said the sessions allow people to speak to subject experts and explore whether policing or volunteering is right for them. He said Dorset Police offers four different entry routes based on education and experience, including recognising military experience instead of formal qualifications.
Applications are currently open for new police officers and transferees, while people interested in becoming special constables are being encouraged to register their interest ahead of recruitment launching later this year.
The event will be streamed online, with a recording available afterwards for anyone unable to watch live.
