Arts University Bournemouth has signed an agreement to explore future creative education collaboration in Malaysia.
The memorandum of understanding, signed on twenty seven January this year, marks the start of structured discussions between Arts University Bournemouth and University College Fairview around possible engagement in creative and arts education that reflects local context and shared academic priorities.
Vice-Chancellor and chief executive Lisa Mann said the agreement was rooted in building understanding and respect, adding that any future collaboration must be academically robust, relevant to place, and aligned with the values and strengths of both institutions.
Both universities recognise that while creative industries operate internationally, educational partnerships need to adapt to local conditions, reflecting a broader shift toward depth, alignment and long term value within international higher education.
Provost Dr Vincent Chian said the agreement opened a long term dialogue, noting Malaysia’s position as a bridge between East and West and growing interest in credible pathways for creative and arts education across the region.
Academic leaders will now assess potential next steps, considering regulatory frameworks, academic standards and shared visions, with an emphasis on listening, learning and careful evaluation before any formal partnership is developed.
