Disruption for Poole rail passengers

Train services serving Poole will be significantly affected this weekend as South Western Railway carries out planned engineering work across its network.

On Sunday, afternoon and evening services between London Waterloo and Poole will not run. Earlier services on the same route will operate to a revised timetable and will stop at additional stations, including Farnborough, Micheldever and Shawford, without dividing at Eastleigh.

Passengers travelling from Bournemouth and Poole towards London are being advised to check their journeys before travelling and allow extra time, as some services will start from different stations or require changes along the route.

Engineering work will also close lines between Salisbury and Southampton Central on Sunday, with replacement buses operating, and the Island Line on the Isle of Wight will be shut for the day. Further disruption is expected between Farnham and Alton, where buses will replace trains.

Queenstown Road station in London will be closed all weekend, and several London Waterloo services will start or finish at alternative stations such as Clapham Junction, Basingstoke or Surbiton.

South Western Railway says passengers should plan ahead and be aware that replacement bus services may take longer than normal journeys.
