Little Shop of Horrors heads to Poole stage

A new production of Little Shop of Horrors is set to arrive at Lighthouse Poole this October.

The musical, presented by Exeter Northcott Theatre in association with Lighthouse Poole and Coventry Belgrade Theatre, will be staged over five days and brings a fresh interpretation of the well known story to local audiences, following a florist whose fortunes change after discovering an unusual and demanding plant.

The production is directed by Martin Barry and tells the story of Seymour, a shy shop worker whose encounter with an exotic plant appears to offer success and romance, but soon presents a difficult moral choice as the plant’s appetite and influence continue to grow.

Lighthouse Poole’s Head of Programming, Katy Griffiths, said the venue was excited to be working with Exeter Northcott Theatre on the new production, adding that audiences would quickly recognise the show’s famous call to feed the plant.

The musical marks Exeter Northcott Theatre’s first full musical production in decades and reflects a wider plan to collaborate nationally, with Lighthouse Poole and Coventry Belgrade Theatre joining as co producing partners.
