Saltwater Sauna plans return to Boscombe

Plans have been confirmed for a new flagship community sauna to open on Boscombe seafront in spring 2026.

The Saltwater Sauna says the site will be its largest and most purpose built to date, designed to host more than 30 people at a time in a shared sauna and social space overlooking the sea, marking a return to the beach where the project first developed.

The company was co founded by Arlene and Sam Glyn Jones, whose early work began with a not for profit sea swimming group on Boscombe Beach, bringing people together through regular cold water swims and informal gatherings focused on wellbeing.

After launching its first mobile sauna at Sandbanks in 2021, the organisation expanded to Avon Beach and Lulworth Cove, with further locations planned, while maintaining a long term aim of creating a permanent community base in Boscombe.

The new facility will include changing areas, lockers, showers, a plunge feature and a dedicated social space, with guided communal sessions intended to combine Nordic bathing traditions with Dorset’s coastal setting.
