Hayes steps up Evri fight in Commons
Bournemouth East MP Tom Hayes is stepping up pressure on delivery firm Evri in Westminster.
He has spoken in Parliament after hearing from residents about missing parcels, repeated delays and customer service they describe as unhelpful, warning that private delivery firms must meet their responsibilities to local people and explain clearly what is happening when deliveries do not arrive as expected.
Hayes said he wrote to Evri’s boss before Christmas and was disappointed to receive what he called a rubbish reply, adding that he is now urging ministers to consider decisive government interventions on private delivery companies in response to the complaints raised with him.
While he highlighted that some private couriers in Bournemouth East have been praised by constituents for their efforts, Hayes said the overall experience of deliveries in the area can be patchy, with strong service in some streets and ongoing frustration in others.
By raising the issue in Parliament and saying enough is enough, the Bournemouth East MP hopes to secure clearer communication, more reliable deliveries and stronger protection for residents who depend on private courier firms to get essential items to their doors.
