The art of keeping well available in Poole

The Art of Keeping Well exhibition opens at Lighthouse Poole this weekend encouraging visitors to engage with caregiving, memory loss and ageing well.

The community exhibition features artworks developed in collaboration with local charity partners, community participants and Bournemouth University that highlight lived experiences and prompt visitors to consider what people need to live well in later life.

The display includes collaged postcards created through the Waiting Well research project led by Bournemouth University and Help and Care, which reflect personal perspectives on dementia and ageing.

A central piece, Stay, is a painting by local artist Adilson Naueji, inspired by the Caring and Working research project and illuminating the often unseen work of family carers. Also on show is the Beyond the Lines portrait series, created by members of In Jolly Good Company groups, which challenges age-related stereotypes and invites viewers to see older adults as engaged and continually growing individuals.

In Jolly Good Company, a dementia-friendly charity open to all, thanks Dorset Council and other supporters for enabling the photography project and exhibition. The exhibition is on the top floor and mezzanine gallery, from Saturday, 17 January till Saturday, 28 February.
