Make this year the time to volunteer

Volunteers are being invited to get involved this year as Diverse Abilities looks for extra support across its services and community events.

The Dorset disability charity is seeking people to help with a wide range of activities, including supporting its own events, assisting at community occasions, and contributing to projects that run throughout the year across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Opportunities include running stalls, helping and marshalling at events, joining cheer groups for sponsored runs, gardening at The Treehouse in Hurn, and using workplace volunteer days to help with painting and decorating at supported living bungalows.

Diverse Abilities supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities through services such as Langside School, which works with children aged two to nineteen, and The Beehive, a therapy and activity centre for adults.

The charity says volunteering helps ensure it can continue providing day to day support while also giving people the chance to learn new skills, meet others, gain experience, and support their own wellbeing.

Marketing and Volunteers Executive Becky Edwards said there are many ways people can get involved this year and beyond, with roles designed to fit different interests, abilities and availability.

More information about volunteering roles and how to register interest is available on the Diverse Abilities website.
