Suspended prison sentences for Poole crash
Two brothers have been given suspended prison sentences after a high speed collision in Poole left a teenage girl with life changing injuries.
Henry Taylor, 21, and Harrison Taylor, 19, both from Poole, admitted offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a crash on the B3369 Banks Road during the early hours of December 26 2023.
Harrison Taylor was driving a Mercedes A200 with a 17 year old female passenger in the front seat, while Henry Taylor was driving a BMW M135 with another female passenger, as the two vehicles travelled together along the road.
An investigation found the cars were being driven in convoy at speeds in excess of 70mph on the 30mph road when the Mercedes failed to negotiate a right hand bend, struck a gatepost and was then hit by the BMW.
The teenage passenger in the Mercedes became trapped and was freed by the fire service before being taken to hospital with multiple serious injuries.
Both brothers appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court on January 8 this year, where they were each sentenced to 18 months in prison suspended for two years and disqualified from driving for three years.
Officers said the case showed the devastating and lasting impact dangerous driving can have, warning motorists that reckless behaviour on Dorset’s roads will continue to be thoroughly investigated.
