Two arrested after Christchurch stabbing

Two people were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in a residential street in Christchurch late last year.

Dorset Police said officers detained a 33 year old man from Christchurch and a 35 year old woman from Poole following a report that a man in his 40s had suffered stab wounds in Dennistoun Avenue at 10.37pm on Monday 29 December last year.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment, while detectives began enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify anyone who may have been involved.

Police confirmed that further and extensive enquiries were carried out, including checks of available CCTV footage and speaking to members of the public who were in the area at the relevant time.

Following the completion of those enquiries, officers confirmed that both people arrested have been released without charge and will face no further police action in connection with the incident.

Police added that officers have remained in contact with the victim to provide support and he has indicated that he does not wish the case to proceed at this time.
