Two men on scooter crash in Bournemouth
A man is in hospital with injuries believed to be life threatening following an electric scooter collision in Bournemouth during the early hours of Monday morning.
Dorset Police were called at 1.55am on Monday 5 January this year after reports of a collision involving an electric scooter on Old Christchurch Road, close to the junction opposite the Popworld nightclub, with emergency services attending the scene shortly afterwards.
The rider of the scooter, a man aged in his twenties, was taken to hospital for treatment, with officers confirming his injuries are believed to be life threatening and that his family has been informed, while a pillion passenger, a man aged in his thirties, suffered minor injuries and was treated.
Police say a full investigation is now underway to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision, with officers appealing for witnesses who were in the area at the time or who may have seen the scooter being ridden in the moments before the incident.
Sergeant Mike Burt, from the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said officers are keen to speak to anyone who has not already contacted police and may have relevant information, adding that motorists with dashcam footage from the area around the time are also urged to come forward.
