Man taken to hospital after assault
A man remains in hospital after being assaulted in Christchurch, following an incident late on Monday night that prompted an immediate police response and a forensic examination of the area.
Dorset Police received a report at 10.37pm on Monday 29 December 2025 that a man in his 40s had sustained stab wounds in Dennistoun Avenue, with emergency services attending and the victim taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers put a scene in place while crime scene investigators and detectives carried out enquiries in and around the street, with the cordon later removed once initial work at the location had been completed.
Detective Inspector Chris Bradford, from BCP CID, said a full investigation is under way and enquiries are progressing at pace to identify and locate those responsible, adding that officers are keen to hear from anyone who was nearby around 10pm.
Police are particularly interested in speaking to people who were in Dennistoun Avenue near Domino’s Pizza in Somerford Road, as well as drivers who may have captured relevant footage on dashcam.
An increased police presence remains in the area, and anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police online or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250190329, or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
