Strictly crew surprises BU students

Bournemouth University students appeared in the BBC Strictly Come Dancing finale after a surprise filming visit to campus this week.

A television crew from the BBC programme arrived at the Talbot Campus on Tuesday ninth September, recording interviews that were later included in Saturday night’s final episode, where members of the public were invited to share their standout moments from the series.

Two students from the university cheerleading team, Liv Teague and Eve Kimberley, spoke on camera about dances that had stood out to them, with Eve saying her highlight was Amber and Nikita’s Paso Doble, while Liv chose Ellie and Vito’s Salsa to music by the Spice Girls.

During the visit, the programme’s director and assistant also travelled to the Poole Gateway Building, where television production students were interviewed and given the chance to ask questions about working behind the scenes in the industry.

Annie East, Principal Academic in Media Production at Bournemouth University, said the visit gave students valuable insight into production roles, adding that discussions focused on organisational skills, managing creative teams, and the importance of risk assessments in television production.
