Christchurch man dies in Somerford crash
A man in his seventies has died in hospital after being hit by a bus in Somerford Road, Christchurch, earlier this week.
Dorset Police were called at 8.43am on Wednesday 3 December 2025 to reports of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian on Somerford Road.
The pedestrian sustained very serious injuries at the scene and was taken to hospital, where he died on the morning of Saturday 6 December 2025.
His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers from Dorset Police as the investigation continues.
A 36-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and later released under investigation while enquiries into the collision continue.
Sergeant Mike Burt from the Serious Collision Investigation Team said, “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the man at this extremely difficult time.”
He said officers are continuing enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the collision and are keen to hear from anyone who has not yet spoken to police.
