Broadstone office event welcomed MPs

Three MPs attended the launch of MYTIME Young Carers’ new Broadstone office as the charity marked an important moment during Big Give week, which raises funds for its Operation Christmas appeal.

Guests from Broadstone, Poole and nearby areas joined staff, young carers and their families to celebrate the charity’s move and the start of its next phase of work.

Local MPs Tom Hayes, Neil Duncan-Jordan and Vikki Slade visited the new headquarters, reflecting the charity’s growing influence across the region.

Vikki Slade spoke about the work taking place within her constituency and noted that the area identifies the highest percentage of young carers nationally, something she linked to MYTIME’s work in schools.

Tom Hayes said it was brilliant to see the charity’s new home and recognised the achievements of the young carers he has invited to Parliament. He said the year had shown strong progress and that the charity’s plans for the year ahead looked even more hopeful.

CEO Krista Cartlidge described the continued rise in the number of young carers being identified and supported. She explained that Operation Christmas began with the delivery of three hundred and thirty three bags and will reach two thousand five hundred this year, showing both rising need and greater awareness.

Krista said the charity was reaching more young carers than ever before and that settling into Broadstone had already brought a warm welcome from the community. She added that support during the appeal would help ensure thousands of young carers receive a festive bag chosen especially for them.

Funds raised this week will go directly to Operation Christmas, helping the charity provide a meaningful gift for children who take on significant caring responsibilities.

MYTIME plans to use its new headquarters as a base for expanding its work further across the UK while continuing to strengthen local partnerships and support families across Dorset and the Isle of Wight.
