PRC Streamline launches national taxi app

Bournemouth-based PRC Streamline Taxis has introduced a new nationwide app service, allowing passengers to book licensed taxis across the UK while supporting local operators.

The company says the move will enhance convenience for passengers and boost the local economy by helping community-based taxi and private hire firms compete with global platforms.

Using iCabbi technology, the new national network connects thousands of licensed drivers, providing coverage from major cities to smaller towns and villages.

Director Nicky Smith said: “When you book a cab with a local company like PRC Streamline Taxis, the money remains in the local community. It’s reinvested locally and helps support our community in numerous ways.”

The firm, which serves Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and surrounding areas, now offers app-based bookings in locations including London, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The service will also extend into Spain, Belgium and Sweden in the coming weeks.

PRC Streamline, which has served Dorset since the 1950s, remains committed to community involvement through partnerships with local organisations such as Lighthouse Poole, AFC Bournemouth and Bourne Free Pride.

Nicky added: “Our new roaming feature means that even when passengers are away, they can still support us and other local fleets like us all over the UK.”

The company continues to work closely with the NHS, having supported hospitals and staff during the pandemic, and is also part of the national ‘Love Local Taxi & Private Hire’ campaign.
