Remembrance services across BCP this Sunday
Services and parades will take place this Sunday across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole as residents come together to mark Remembrance Day and honour those who served in the Armed Forces and emergency services.
Councillor Andy Martin, Portfolio Holder for Customer, Communications and Culture, said the events offer a moment for reflection and unity. “Remembrance Day is a time for our communities to come together in reflection and gratitude. These events across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole offer us all a chance to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served, and to ensure their legacy lives on.”
In Bournemouth, the annual service of remembrance and parade will take place at the Cenotaph in the Central Gardens at 10.55am. The parade will start from Bournemouth Tennis Courts at 10.35am, led by the Salvation Army and BCCF Marching Bands. Braidley Road, Bourne Avenue and Avenue Road will be closed from 9am until 1pm.
Christchurch’s parade, overseen by the Royal British Legion, will move from Bargates to Christchurch Priory, with a wreath-laying ceremony at 10.15am and a service at 10.50am. A rolling road closure will be in place for the procession.
In Poole, the parade will set off from the cricket pavilion at 10.20am and make its way to the War Memorial in Poole Park, where a service will begin at 10.50am. Poole Park will be closed to vehicles from 7am to 1pm.
Broadstone’s parade will begin at 10.30am from Tudor Road, with a short service and wreath-laying at the memorial in Broadstone Park before returning to the starting point.
There are also events taking place in the town centres around east Dorset, including Wimborne, Ferndown and Verwood.
