Zumba classes raise £640 for charity

A Bournemouth Zumba Gold instructor has raised over £600 for Breast Cancer Now by turning his fitness sessions pink in support of the charity’s annual Wear It Pink campaign.

Instructor Alek Parker invited his students to take part in a week of themed Zumba Gold classes during October, encouraging everyone to wear their brightest pink outfits and donate to the cause.

The response from his Zumba community was remarkable, with participants helping to smash not one but three fundraising goals. The final total reached £640.11, far surpassing Alek’s initial target of £250.

Alek said he was “blown away” by the generosity shown throughout the week and proud of the way his classes rallied behind such an important cause. He explained that breast cancer has affected several of his clients and that the event was a way to show collective support and solidarity.

The sessions were full of smiles, laughter, and plenty of pink, creating a lively and positive atmosphere while raising awareness and funds for life-saving research.

Alek said the experience showed “the power of community, positivity, and a bit of fun” in making a difference.

All proceeds will go directly to Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s leading breast cancer charity, funding crucial research and support for those affected.
