Christchurch Christmas Lights switch on date

Christchurch will once again shine bright this winter as the town’s Christmas Lights and Switch-On event returns on Saturday 22 November 2025.

Running from 11am to 7pm, the celebration will bring festive sights to the heart of Christchurch, with the official switch-on led by the Mayor at 5pm.

Visitors can expect a packed day of entertainment, from live music by local bands and headline acts to BMX stunt displays, fairground rides and roaming mascots. A festive market will fill the High Street, Saxon Square and Druitt Hall, offering seasonal food, drinks, crafts and gifts.

This year’s lights will stretch across the town, with the familiar deer on the roundabout, the illuminated Convent and Riverside Walk, and new displays on the quay, the Old Town Hall, Bargates and throughout the High Street.

Mayor Councillor Viv Charrett said the event marks a special moment in the local calendar. “We’re thrilled to bring back this cherished event that truly marks the start of the festive season in Christchurch. With entertainment, lights and community spirit, it’s a wonderful way for families and friends to come together and celebrate.”

The free event invites everyone to join the countdown and enjoy the sparkle as Christchurch lights up for Christmas.

Volunteers are also being welcomed to help make the day shine. Anyone interested can contact the Town Council at Townclerk@christchurch-tc.gov.uk.
