Ferndown jobs boost after plans approved
Ferndown is set to benefit from new employment opportunities after Dorset Council approved two major developments on the town’s industrial estate.
Permission has been granted for a new builders’ merchant at 45 Cobham Road and for 28 new industrial units nearby.
The new builders’ merchant, proposed by Bournemouth-based Haycock Holdings Ltd, will include storage, distribution and trade counter facilities, along with office and retail space. The development is expected to create around 25 jobs and will be built on a vacant plot next to the existing Travis Perkins site. Ferndown Town Council raised no objections to the plans.
The second scheme, from Ankers and Rawlings Developments Ltd, will see the former Allied Bakeries distribution centre at 1 Cobham Road cleared to make way for modern business units and a self-storage area.
Covering 8,000 square metres, the site will include flexible spaces for small and start-up firms. The new buildings will use neutral colours to blend with their surroundings and allow future tenants to apply their own branding.
