£750million investment drives growth across BCP
More than £750million of ongoing investment is transforming Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, with businesses and public bodies showing confidence in the area’s future.
The projects will bring long-term benefits to local communities through improved healthcare, transport, housing and greenspaces, while supporting hundreds of new jobs.
BCP Council is investing £24million from developer contributions into key priorities, including new education provision in Bearwood and Merley, and flood defences to unlock new housing at Poole town centre.
Councillor Millie Earl, Leader of BCP Council, said the investments reflect confidence in the area. “These investments are a real boost for our communities – creating jobs, improving education, and opening up new opportunities for people to thrive and develop,” she said.
JPMorganChase has confirmed a £350million commitment to its Bournemouth campus. Chairman and CEO Jamie Dimon said the firm was proud to invest in “a world-class workplace and in local skills development” that would benefit the community.
Bournemouth Airport is also undergoing a major upgrade, including a modernised terminal and new bus connections, expected to create at least 230 jobs.
Poole Museum will soon reopen following a multi-million pound redevelopment supported by national and local partners, marking a new chapter for one of Dorset’s key cultural landmarks.
Council spending also includes over £10million for road improvements, £3.9million for upgrades to 120 play areas, and a 110-home affordable housing scheme at Hillbourne due for completion next year.
Other major investments include £200million from Bournemouth Water to upgrade local treatment works, and £91million from University Hospitals Dorset for new facilities at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
Councillor Andy Martin said the ongoing regeneration was helping shape modern, sustainable communities “where people and businesses can thrive for years to come.”
