Dorset Council extends plan consultations

Dorset Council has extended the deadlines for its Local Plan and Local Transport Plan consultations after receiving a high number of responses and reports of technical issues with the online system.

The Local Transport Plan consultation will now close on Monday 20 October, while the Local Plan consultation will remain open until Friday 31 October.

Residents had reported that the council’s online survey pages were slow to load, making it difficult to complete submissions. The council has apologised for the inconvenience and said it wants to ensure everyone has the opportunity to give feedback.

Jan Britton, Dorset Council’s Executive Director for planning and transport, said the response so far has been very encouraging and reflects how much people care about the future of the county.

He added that both consultations will stay open online and by email for longer to make the process fair for all participants.

Alternative formats, including Easy Read versions of the plans, remain available on the council’s website for those who prefer different ways to take part.
