Creativity shines at Poole internship exhibition
A colourful exhibition celebrating creativity and enterprise has opened at Lighthouse Poole, shining a spotlight on interns from Bournemouth’s SAMEE charity.
Many Hands, Many Visions runs until Saturday 18th October and features original work produced by participants in SAMEE’s Supported Self-Employment Internship programme.
Guests at the launch included Neil Duncan-Jordan, independent MP for Poole, who joined visitors in meeting the interns and learning about their business ideas.
Exhibits range from art, fashion and jewellery to culinary creations, video content and even ventriloquism, reflecting the wide mix of skills developed during the internship.
Each intern played an active role in curating the event, from designing promotional materials to producing the creative work on display. The programme supports disabled, neurodivergent or young people with long-term health conditions to gain skills and confidence through the UK’s first co-created Level 1 qualification in self-employment.
Rob Amey, SAMEE’s Young Person Lead, said it was inspiring to see the interns engaging so confidently with visitors and taking ownership of the exhibition from start to finish.
The exhibition is free to visit at Lighthouse Poole’s Top Floor Gallery, open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 8pm.
