JPMorganChase unveils £350m Bournemouth campus plan

JPMorganChase is set to invest up to £350 million to modernise and expand its Bournemouth campus, creating a world-class centre for financial innovation, payments technology and artificial intelligence.

The project will include a new building, enhanced facilities, and upgraded workspaces for the firm’s 5,300 employees. Plans are expected to be submitted to local authorities soon, marking a major step in the company’s nearly 40-year history in Bournemouth.

The firm will also commit £3.5 million over the next five years to support non-profit organisations that help young people in the South West develop skills and access career opportunities.

Jamie Dimon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorganChase, said the investment reflects the company’s belief in Bournemouth’s strong talent base and the positive impact the firm can make in the community.

Since opening in 1986 with 650 staff, the Bournemouth campus has grown to become the company’s second-largest location in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It now plays a vital role in global operations, handling around 350,000 transactions worth more than $1 trillion each day.

Bournemouth East MP Tom Hayes said the investment would help more young people build their futures locally, while Bournemouth West MP Jessica Toale called it a major boost for the South West economy.

The new £3.5 million community fund forms part of JPMorganChase’s wider £40 million UK commitment to support sustainable economic growth. Part of this includes £980,000 for Business in the Community to promote skills-based recruitment and expand local apprenticeships.

Karine Sweeney, Managing Director of the Bournemouth site, said investing in young people’s careers made good business sense and would help nurture the local talent of tomorrow.
