Tesco staff raise over £27,000 for cancer research
Tesco colleagues across Dorset have raised more than £27,000 for Cancer Research UK following a twelve-mile sponsored walk along the Jurassic Coast.
Staff from stores in Bournemouth, Dorchester, Ferndown, Poole and Shaftesbury took part in the Jurassic Coast Challenge, walking from Weymouth Pavilion to Lulworth Cove to help fund research into cancer cures.
Tesco lead manager Danielle Croad said it began as a simple idea six months ago. “What started as a conversation with my mentor has turned into something incredible. I’m extremely proud of everyone involved,” she said.
About 80 colleagues completed the walk, tackling steep hills and rocky terrain, while others supported by running in-store fundraising activities, including a sponsored bike ride, book sales, games for children and a cosplay event.
Store manager and regional community lead Scott Moonan said teams worked tirelessly in recent weeks to support the cause and were proud of what they achieved together.
Eve Mitchell from Cancer Research UK thanked everyone who took part, saying the money raised will help fund more life-saving research and bring forward a world where people live longer, better lives free from cancer.
