Bournemouth graduate wins top podcast award
A Bournemouth University graduate has won a national award for her business podcast.
Becca Pountney took home the title of Best British Business Podcast at the 2025 British Podcast Awards, held at the O2 Arena in London on Thursday 2 October. Her podcast, Wedding Pros Who are Ready to Grow, beat nominees from major publishers including The Economist and The Times.
After graduating from Bournemouth University in 2009 with a degree in Television Production, Becca worked for the BBC, Endemol and Global Radio before launching her own business in 2016. She now helps wedding professionals develop and grow their businesses.
Her podcast offers practical advice, interviews with industry experts and tips for those looking to start or strengthen their place in the competitive wedding industry.
Becca said the award “shows the power of the independent podcast and that a woman in her home office can create content just as well as the big publishers.” She added that skills learnt at university helped her achieve this success.
Programme Leader Isabel Grey Forrest said Becca’s success “brilliantly demonstrates how creative skills learned at university can be applied across industries” and that her determination and adaptability make her an inspiration for other graduates.
