CPR bus to visit Bournemouth for lifesaving lessons
A special bus will arrive in Bournemouth Square next Tuesday to help local people learn how to save a life.
Morebus is teaming up with University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust to mark Restart a Heart Day with a hands-on CPR event on Tuesday 14 October.
The specially-branded Morebus vehicle will serve as a base for visitors to practise cardiopulmonary resuscitation and learn how to use a defibrillator. The hospital’s resuscitation team will be on-hand to provide demonstrations and answer questions throughout the day.
“Being able to recognise if someone is in cardiac arrest and knowing how to start CPR is a vital skill that really could save a life,” said Morebus general manager Richard Wade. “This event is designed to teach people just that and much more.”
Liz Ponsford, resuscitation officer at University Hospitals Dorset, said cardiac arrest can affect anyone, and that early CPR can double the chance of survival. She encouraged people to join in and learn these vital skills.
Restart a Heart Day is held each October to raise awareness of cardiac arrest and promote CPR training across the UK.
The free event takes place in Bournemouth Square on Tuesday 14 October between 10am and 3pm.
