AFC Bournemouth donation supports families across Dorset

AFC Bournemouth has donated £4,725 to Home-Start Wessex following the conclusion of their two-year charity partnership.

The donation is part of a total of £18,900 shared equally between four local charities supported by the club, including Stormbreak, Helpful Hounds and Mosaic. Each received £4,725 raised through events such as the Sporting Dinner and Corporate Golf Days, alongside matchday activities.

Over the past two seasons, Home-Start Wessex worked closely with the club on community events. Families attended a Christmas celebration at the Vitality Stadium, while children supported the women’s team as mascots for International Women’s Day at the Ringwood Community Hub.

Caroline Pope, Corporate Partnerships and Marketing Manager at Home-Start Wessex, said the donation would help them continue their work with families. “Their donation will enable us to continue our life-changing work to give children the best possible start in life.”

Home-Start Wessex, which marks 30 years in 2025, supports families with at least one child under five who are experiencing crisis, including poor mental health, disability, domestic abuse, bereavement or family breakdown.

Last year, the charity supported 526 families across Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and surrounding areas, reaching more than 1,700 people. It is now appealing for new volunteers to provide practical and emotional support to parents with young children.
