Dozens of firefighters tackle Poole warehouse fire

Poole Fire Station

A major fire has broken out at an industrial warehouse on West Quay Road in Poole, prompting a large emergency response.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 11.20am and found the building already well alight. Around 35 firefighters are tackling the blaze with support from an aerial ladder platform from Westbourne and a water carrier from Ringwood.

A large smoke plume can be seen rising from the building and residents in the surrounding area are being advised to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution.

The incident has also led to significant traffic congestion around Poole Quay. Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service are asking drivers to avoid the area while crews continue to bring the fire under control.

Dorset Police officers are also on the scene assisting with road closures.
