BH Live Active centres praised for results

Three Bournemouth leisure centres have been praised for their commitment to health and wellbeing after being awarded high ratings in a national assessment.

Littledown, Stokewood, and Pelhams leisure centres, all operated by BH Live in partnership with BCP Council, were each awarded a ‘Very Good’ status following an industry review carried out by Right Directions on behalf of Sport England.

The assessment, known as Quest, is based on mystery visits, interviews, and research to reflect the real customer experience. It looks at management, cleanliness, safety, and the range of activities on offer.

At Littledown, assessors highlighted the variety of accessible facilities and praised staff for their warm and approachable manner. They also noted the centre’s high level of use, with more than 225,000 gym attendances and nearly 100,000 swims recorded in a year.

Pelhams was recognised for its health and wellbeing programmes designed for people with long-term health conditions, as well as its high standards of cleanliness and support for staff.

Stokewood was praised for its extensive programme of group exercise classes, its work to reduce inequalities with dedicated swim sessions, and its strong commitment to safety.

Rob Cunningham, Director of Leisure and Business Development at BH Live, said the feedback shows how the centres help people “live healthier, happier lives and bring real social value to the heart of our community.”

All three centres form part of BH Live Active, which offers pay-as-you-go activities and membership across the BCP area.
