Castle Lane West in Bournemouth was closed for more than four hours last night after a serious collision involving a Toyota.
At around 5.50pm on Friday 12 September officers requested the driver of a Toyota to stop in Castle Lane West.
It is reported that the vehicle made off and was shortly afterwards involved in a collision with another vehicle.
The driver of the Toyota was taken to hospital in a serious condition by the ambulance service. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
The road was closed while an investigation was carried out at the scene.
Dorset Police confirmed that, as is mandatory in such circumstances, the Force has referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
