BCP Council offering support for pupils receiving GCSE results

BCP Council is offering support for those receiving their GCSE and Key Stage 4 results today across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

More than 4,000 year 11 pupils from schools in the area have been discovering their grades and considering what comes next, whether that is continuing in education, starting an apprenticeship or beginning a training programme.

Councillor Richard Burton, Portfolio Holder for Children, Young People, Education and Skills at BCP Council, said students had shown great commitment to reach this point. He said: “Today’s results are the well-earned reward for years of hard work, commitment and resilience and our year 11 pupils should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.”

Cathi Hadley, Corporate Director for Children’s Services at BCP Council, said pupils had shown determination and also thanked those who had supported them. She said: “Every one of our pupils across BCP has done so well to reach this point and we wish them every success as they take their next steps. I would also like to express our thanks to all the teachers, school staff, parents and carers who have encouraged and supported our young people through their educational journey.”

For those still weighing up their options, support and guidance are available to help make the right choices. Schools are the first place to go for advice, with heads of year, tutors and careers advisers on hand to provide guidance and access to pupil records and exam results.

BCP Council has sent its best wishes to all pupils as they move forward, highlighting both the individual achievements of young people and the work of staff and families who have helped them reach this stage.
