Detectives are appealing for information after the body of a 88-year-old man was discovered at a home in Bournemouth.
Dorset Police were called by the ambulance service at 12.57pm yesterday, Saturday 9 August this year to a property in Edgehill Road, Winton, following concerns for the man’s welfare.
Officers attended and found the man dead at the address. His next of kin have been informed and are being kept updated on the progress of the investigation.
A police cordon has been set up around the property while detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team carry out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the death.
Following initial enquiries, a sixty-year-old woman from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Police say she is believed to have been known to the deceased. She remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Third said the investigation was at an early stage and the death was currently being treated as unexplained. He urged anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area since Friday 18 July this year to get in touch.
He said: “You may have vital details to help us establish what has happened. To enable us to gather as much information as possible about circumstances surrounding the man’s death, and in order to provide legal protection for the individual, we have made an arrest. There will be an increased police presence in the area while we work to establish what has happened and we would encourage anyone with information or concerns to please speak with an officer.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police via the force website or by calling 101 and quoting occurrence number 55250117622.
