Firefighters tackled a large heath fire between Holt and Three Legged Cross on Friday evening.
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said they were called at 6.22pm to reports of a fire in the open at White Sheet Plantation, off Holt Road.
Appliances from Verwood, Hamworthy, Bridport and Fordingbridge in Hampshire were first to arrive and found an area of heath well alight.
A request for additional resources was made, and crews from Blandford, Salisbury, Shaftesbury and Eastleigh in Hampshire also attended. Firefighters used main water lines and hose reel jets in an effort to bring the blaze under control.
At the time of publishing, the incident is ongoing and no information has yet been released on the size of the area affected or the cause of the fire. White Sheet Plantation is a mixture of heathland and forestry, which can be vulnerable to rapid fire spread during dry conditions.
Residents and motorists in the area have been advised to avoid Holt Road while emergency services remain on scene.
