A Bournemouth insurance firm has raised £2,469 for Dorset Cancer Care Foundation following a week of fundraising activities aimed at supporting people affected by cancer in the county.
Protect Line, based on Bourne Valley Road, ran a five-day Wellness Week featuring events such as a healthy bake sale, a raffle, and a static bike ride covering the 104 miles between its Bournemouth and London offices.
The company chose the Dorset Cancer Care Foundation (DCCF) as its charity partner following a staff vote. The charity provides non-returnable financial grants to local families struggling with the costs of a cancer diagnosis.
Travis Hinton, Culture and Engagement Partner at Protect Line, said the team was “absolutely delighted” with the new partnership and praised the charity’s warmth and commitment to helping people across Dorset.
DCCF is the only Dorset-based charity dedicated to easing the financial pressure of cancer. Since 2012, it has distributed more than £800,000 in grants to help cover the cost of accommodation, transport, specialist equipment and short breaks.
Protect Line has further events planned, including a charity quiz night in October and a fundraising activity at its End of Year party in December.
DCCF Trustee Di Bird welcomed the partnership and said the charity is keen to hear from other local companies interested in offering support.
