Bournemouth Airport begins new chapter with ICG partnership deal

Bournemouth Airport’s operator, Regional & City Airports, has been sold to international asset manager ICG.

In what has been announced as new partnership, the deal comes after 12 years of development under Rigby Group.

The airport joined the Rigby Group in 2017 and now serves 48 destinations. It employs around 300 people directly and sits alongside the 200-acre Aviation Business Park, home to 200 businesses and more than 4,000 local jobs.

We’re told the new partnership will support the continued expansion of airport, cargo and executive jet operations, with a specific focus on improving sustainability across sites in Bournemouth, Exeter and Norwich.

The deal is expected to complete later this month. RCA’s management team, including Bournemouth Airport’s managing director Steve Gill, will remain in place.

Gill said the move brings “real opportunity” for growth and connectivity. Rigby Group described the partnership as the right step to help RCA reach its full potential, while ICG said it plans to help speed up the shift to more sustainable operations.
