Up to 100 new homes planned for land off Manor Road Verwood

Plans have been submitted for the construction of up to 100 new homes on land to the west of Manor Road in Verwood.

The site, which covers approximately 6.6 hectares, is located south and west of Manor Road and near St. Michael’s Road.

A new crossing has recently been installed outside the proposed area, opposite the Scout hut.

The development would include a mix of open market and affordable housing, and could feature a small number of flats as part of the overall housing mix.

In addition to housing, the proposals also include the creation of a Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANGS), designed to provide a natural environment for recreation while helping to protect sensitive nearby habitats such as heathlands from increased footfall.

The application suggests the SANGS will be accessible to new residents and the wider community and is intended to meet Natural England requirements.

No final designs have been confirmed yet, as the plans are currently at the outline stage, meaning details like layout, access and building styles would be subject to future planning approvals.

The site borders existing residential areas, and public consultation is expected to be part of the next stages before any construction begins.

Verwood has seen consistent growth in recent years, with nearby housing developments approved off Edmondsham Road and Ringwood Road.

Dorset Council’s Local Plan identifies Verwood as a key settlement for new housing due to its services and road links.
