Ferry service resumes after technical fault and staff abuse incident
Sandbanks Ferry in Poole has returned to normal today after a technical issue last night caused an hour-long suspension and led to a serious incident involving passenger behaviour.
During the unexpected delay, staff working on the Sandbanks ferry were subjected to verbal abuse and threatening behaviour by several passengers.
The company says the incident was extremely upsetting for those involved and has confirmed it is now working with police and offering support to affected staff.
In a statement, the ferry operator said the safety and wellbeing of both staff and passengers remains its top priority, and made clear that any future abuse will result in immediate preventative action. Offenders could be banned from using the ferry.
The technical problem that caused the disruption has now been resolved and ferry crossings are operating normally today.
The operator thanked passengers who showed patience and understanding during the temporary outage.
