A Verwood man has been sentenced after admitting to breaching a criminal behaviour order designed to prevent offending in rural parts of Dorset.
Shane Cooper, aged 34 and of Bingham Road, appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 16 July 2025. He pleaded guilty to entering private land without permission in the Pimperne area, which went against the terms of his existing order.
The incident happened on Tuesday 19 September last year, when Cooper was spotted trespassing with dogs on private land. A witness noted the registration of a vehicle involved and, following local enquiries, he was arrested and later identified in a police ID parade.
Cooper had previously been banned from entering farms, private land, outbuildings and driveways unless given written permission. The court issued a £270 fine, along with £400 in costs and a £108 victim surcharge.
Dorset Police said criminal behaviour orders are used to reduce rural offending and hold repeat offenders to account. Officers are urging the public to report any suspicious activity during the summer harvest season, which can attract poachers to newly cut fields.
