Pavilion Dance South West in Bournemouth is joining forces with three leading venues across the region to present international contemporary dance to local audiences.
The new partnership, called Dance Along the South Coast, includes Pavilion Dance, Mayflower Theatre and MAST Mayflower Studios in Southampton, and Lighthouse in Poole.
Together, they are hosting world-class performances and offering learning opportunities for audiences and artists alike.
Helen Keall from Pavilion Dance said the project had already led to meaningful collaborations, with some artists meeting at events and later creating new work together.
The initiative is also giving local dancers and choreographers the chance to connect with touring companies, watch rehearsals and join in workshops.
Dance Along the South Coast is part of a wider commitment by Mayflower Theatre to grow dance audiences and bring high-quality contemporary productions to the region through Dance Consortium.
As part of the new season, Cirque Eloize’s fast-paced production iD Reloaded is set to appear at Mayflower Theatre in September this year.
Tory East has also joined Mayflower as Dance Programme Leader, bringing more than 25 years of experience to help develop dance audiences across the partnership.
