Residents invited to comment on Lilliput planning forum plans

BCP Council has launched a public consultation on a proposal to establish a neighbourhood forum for the Lilliput area in Poole.

The proposed Lilliput Neighbourhood Forum would allow residents and local groups to help shape future planning policies by developing a neighbourhood plan for the area.

The application includes a request for official designation of both the forum and the proposed area.

Neighbourhood forums have a legal status for five years and are created under the Localism Act 2011. If approved, the Lilliput forum would have powers to develop planning policies which, once adopted, would become part of the council’s statutory development plan.

Council Leader Councillor Millie Earl said the process gives communities a stronger voice in the planning decisions that affect them. She is encouraging anyone with an interest in Lilliput’s future to take part in the consultation.

The consultation is now open and will close at 11.59pm on Monday 25 August. Residents can take part online via the council’s consultation platform or pick up a paper survey from local libraries.

All responses will be reviewed as part of the decision-making process.
