Bournemouth team wanted to pull plane for families in need
Families across Bournemouth and the wider region could benefit from a unique fundraising challenge this summer, as Home-Start Wessex looks to recruit 20 people to take part in this year’s Dorset Plane Pull.
Taking place on 25th August at Bournemouth Airport, the event sees teams of 20 pull a 35,000 kg Boeing 737 a distance of 50 metres. It’s the only event of its kind in the UK and has raised more than £340,000 for good causes since 2009.
Home-Start Wessex is aiming to raise vital funds to continue its support for local families in crisis. The charity offers one-to-one home visits, practical advice and emotional support to parents with young children across Dorset, including the whole of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
In the past year alone, the charity has helped more than 1,600 people, including over 500 families.
Community Fundraising and Events Officer Darren Lewis said it is a chance to make a life-changing difference. No specialist training is needed, but participants must be fit and healthy.
The event is hosted by European Skybus Ltd. on the Aviation Business Park.
