Fireworks return to Bournemouth and Poole seafronts this summer

Weekly firework displays are returning to Bournemouth and Poole every Thursday and Friday night throughout the summer holidays – but nothing regular confirmed for Christchurch.

BCP Council has confirmed 12 nights of free fireworks, starting Friday 25 July in Bournemouth and Thursday 31 July in Poole.

In Bournemouth, displays will take place at 10pm on six consecutive Fridays, east of Bournemouth Pier. Meanwhile, Poole Quay will host Thursday night events with family entertainment and live music from 7pm before fireworks begin at 10pm.

Christchurch will get its own fireworks display during the annual Carnival, taking place this year on August 15th, 16th and 17th.

Councillor Andy Martin said the displays remain among the most well-attended events of the year and offer a welcome boost to the local economy.

All displays are funded by the council and will run weekly through to the end of August, with an additional display planned for Poole on Wednesday 5 November as part of the town’s bonfire night celebrations.

Confirmed dates:

Bournemouth Seafront (Fridays, 10pm):
25 July, 1 August, 8 August, 15 August, 22 August, 29 August

Poole Quay (Thursdays, 10pm, events from 7pm):
31 July, 7 August, 14 August, 21 August, 28 August, and 5 November which is a Wednesday, fireworks at 8pm, events from 5.30pm)

Bournemouth’s Friday night fireworks were first introduced in 2016 and have become a staple of the summer events calendar.

The 5 November display in Poole is typically part of the annual Guy Fawkes celebrations with funfair rides and food stalls.
