Flower displays return to brighten Bournemouth town centre streets

Bournemouth Town Centre is now filled with bright summer colours as over 100 hanging baskets and 20 pedestal planters have been installed across the town.

The flower displays have returned for a third year, funded by the Bournemouth Town Centre BID.

This year also marks the second year that the BID has taken on full maintenance responsibilities for the displays. The initiative continues after Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council ended its support due to budget cuts and the closure of Kings Park Nursery.

Floral installations can be found in prominent locations including Westover Road, Old Christchurch Road, The Square, The Triangle, Post Office Road and Poole Hill.

Ian Saul, a BID board member and owner of Naked Coffee, said the decision to keep the flowers going was based on feedback from residents and business owners. He said the displays contribute to making the town centre more welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.

The project forms part of the BID’s wider efforts to improve the look and feel of the town, which also includes graffiti removal, extra street cleaning, Town Rangers, and free public events like the Summer Streets programme.

The displays will remain in place until the end of summer.
