This weekend’s Bournemouth Pier to Pier charity swim has been cancelled because of poor weather expected on Saturday 5 July 2025.
Organisers confirmed the decision was made to prioritise the safety of participants and volunteers.
The event, which was due to take place between Bournemouth and Boscombe piers, is one of the UK’s biggest charity sea swims. Participants had signed up to complete the 1.4-mile swim in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
In a statement, organisers said they would be contacting those registered by email with further information about what happens next.
The date for next year’s event has already been announced as Saturday 27 June 2026.
The decision follows updated weather forecasts predicting unsafe sea conditions for the day of the swim.
Last year’s event saw hundreds of people take part in warm, calm weather.
